Exhibit #2 Mrs. Symington's Bible Class, Grace Methodist, Napanee, 1909

Grace Methodist Church (Episcopalean Methodist) is now Grace United and is still going strong. It is located on Bridge Street West close to the upscale residences of Piety Hill in old Napanee West Ward. Despite it's gentrified location, Grace Church was always popular with shop-owners and trades people of urban Centre Ward.

Mrs. Symington's Bible Class was first offered in 1875. It was sometimes known as the "Men's Bible Class", although many women attended, especially the wives and widows of the male participants. For more about Julia Symington, see the biography attached to her image.

This large, composite image languished in the collection for some time, as not enough sources were accessible to identify all the portraits. Now it is possible to put a biography with most of the names.

These images are from the collections of the Lennox and Addington Historical Society, housed at the Lennox and Addington County Museum, Napanee, Ontario.

Each image is the size of a large postage stamp. The face of the composite print was scratched and otherwise damaged before it was donated to the Society. Unfortunately, with magnification, the damage is often evident. Reproduction is problematic.
