Lennox and Addington County

Those Who Served in the Great War

(1914-1918)

When God forgets to send the dawn
and birds no longer wing.
Our own beloved warriors brave
we'll cease remembering.
Amy Ratz, 1943 - from The Weese Scrapbook

This list is based on the information gathered by W.S. Herrington and Rev. A.J. Wilson in 1920 and 1921 from returning veterans, their families and friends. Some of this information was subsequently published by the Lennox and Addington Historical Society as The War Work of the County of Lennox and Addington (1922). However, the information you will find here is not always the same as you will find in the book. For consistency, some entries are abbreviated here, while others have been enhanced by information available now which was not available then. Also, this list includes some names submitted by local residents who were rejected for War Work as not having long-term connection with Lennox and Addington. We have chosen to include them.
